My take on Gay marriage
I've noticed a common trend on Facebook:
Everyone all of a sudden became Bible experts throwing
insults and condemning folks who simply want the right to love.
Those of you who are bashing and condemning gay marriage,
are you doing the same for divorcees who remarry? Or people who are addicted to sex, pornography, masterbation, pre-marital sex, or are living with their bf/gf and aren't married??
Divorce = adultery = punishable by death via being burned
alive or stoned to death (with rocks, not marijuana).
Malachi 2:16--God hates divorce.
Notice that it is the sin that is hated and not the person.
I don't recall seeing
any protesters or picketers shouting insults at 2nd, 3rd, or 4th nuptials of
folks or at people for living together who aren't married.
It's like we're picking and choosing who we condemn using
the Bible for backing. Conviction doesn't work that way, folks.
Matthew 7:4-5 says "How can you say to your brother,
'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in
your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then
you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
John 8:7 He that is without sin, cast the first stone.
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
The fact is: ALL sin is punishable by death and eternal
punishment in hell.
There is no grading scale for which sin or sinner is worse.
That is why Christ died and rose again.
We NEED Him to rectify our wrongdoings.
We NEED Him to rectify our wrongdoings.
We are saved by grace through FAITH, not by works, so that
none can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Christ taught us to accept, love, and forgive your neighbor.
You don't have to agree with him, but you are commanded to
love him/her. (Matthew 22:38-40)
Go against your religious beliefs? No.
Read the Bible to its entirety? Yes.
If you feel like you need to avoid the news because it has gay people on it and don't want your children becoming gay,
then you need to stop watching shows that have Black people on them out of fear for your kids becoming black.
Notice how both sound utterly ignorant?
For those of you citing Homophobia, let's first break down the term to understand it.
Homo is short for homosexual or gay person.
The term PHOBIA suggests a FEAR of something or someone.
Are you afraid of GAY people? No, you're just an a**hole.
If you don't like gay people because of their sexual preference, don't date/marry a gay person. It's that simple.
Remember, whenever you point your finger at someone, you
have 4 other fingers pointing right back at you.
What's ironic about current legislation is that just a few
decades ago, people used the same reasoning for protesting interracial
marriages.
Then, the freedom to LOVE was granted:
The ebb and flow of Christian's protesting in America:
1960s Protesting Interracial Relationships
Present Day Protesting of Gay Marriage
Is the legalization of Gay marriage a step towards progression in America?
With the current changes of what defines MARRIAGE, I DO have a few concerns...
Will this give pedophiles the right to marry children?
Their belief is that age limits are discriminatory towards
their right to marry because it is their sexual preference.
Will this legalize incest relations?
Genetic sexual attraction has been in the news lately with:
Will people now have the right to marry their animals?
Like in California where a man married his dog
Will this give people the ability to have limitless lovers,
wives, and/or husbands?
Think, Sister Wives
My point is... showing hatred towards another individual for sinning differently than you does not convict them to stop sinning anymore than it does you.
When you extend grace, love, mercy, and compassion, Jesus can flow through us and be a reflection of the love and grace we, ourselves, have received.
THAT'S what can change people.
